I remember attending the Apple Days Festival last year, a few weeks after Matt left and realized how FREAKIN long this deployment has been. Very thankful it's coming to an end soon! We started off the morning with a 1.2 mile Fun Run at 8:30AM. The very first time I have ever ran in a group event. It was actually enjoyable and I kept up a good pace, stroller and all. Kilian enjoyed everyone running together, he thought it was funny! After the run, we strolled around for awhile checking out the booths, petting zoo animals, Human Society animals, military police dog demonstrations, Calvary horses, helicopters and HumVees...he LOVED it all. We then treated ourselves to some typical festival food. Kilian: Pancake on a Stick and Rice Crispie Treat. Me: Awesome BBQ Beef sandwich and then of course, Apple Pie a la mode. Can't skip that at the Apple Days! It's fun to have a reason to eat unreasonably sometimes! We also completed a military obstacle course set up for big kids. However, Kilian's ears perked up at hearing "Ready Set GO" and we had to join. They wouldn't let me him go through alone, so I accompanied him. I was WORE out by the time we headed home. We both had a great nap this afternoon!
